Howard Schadenfreude

It's no secret that I hate John Howard, not only in terms of his policies in government, but also because of the way he prosecuted the wedge politics of fear and racism.

So I 've been watching with interest as his apparently near certain appointment to head the ICC seemed to be unravelling. Now it's certain that he won't be appointed. I was happy to see him fail to get the plum post-leadership job, and mostly because he seemed to want it so much... fuck you Johnny! But the irony is that his unravelling seems to be topped off by opposition from Zimbabwe - in revenge for loss of face when Howard opposed Mugabe's dictatorial government - which is one of very few policy issues on which I saw eye to eye with the previous government.
