Saw amazing drummer last night

I was given a freebie to see Grant Collins play a solo drum show at the Tivoli last night.

I was blown away by the sounds that he could make with two feet and two sticks (but he did have a Massive drumkit). He even played what I took to be the piano part of a samba in his opening piece.

Sadly, rather than just breathe between pieces, he got up front and talked for 5-10 min at a go, revealing what I'd call an FHM mentality.... but it give a good break to go to the bar or the toilet without missing any of his amazing drumming.

The thing that really blew me away was that it was amplified by 2 huge stacks, bigger than most rock gigs I've seen for a 500+ crowd. I enjoyed myself most when standing and wiggling my hips to the rhythms... but the vast majority of the crowd was seated, and looked like the came from the conservatorium community rather than the drummer community (although there was a sigificant clique of black T-shirted 18-25s).
